Exxonmobil ordered to cleanup oil spill in AKS: Exxonmobil has been ordered by Akwa Ibom State Governor, Ufom Emmanuel to clean up the oil spill that occurred on May 8, Punch reported.




The company was instructed to commence the clean up immediately in the area.
"Exxonmobil has agreed to clean up the spillage and fixed the Joint Investigation Visit to the site of the incident for Friday, June 3" Secretary to the State Governor, Etekamba Umoren said.

Exxonmobil will use powerful chemicals to sink the oil and destroy the weeds which the fish feed on.
Fishermen in the vicinity have also cried out for the area to be cleaned as it is affecting them.
