Speaking with newsmen in Uyo, Mr. Umanah said “for the umpteenth time, I wish to state categorically that Akwa Ibom State Government is not owing any worker, not even teachers’ salaries, as wrongly peddled by enemies of government.”
According to him, official records indicate that “the only outstanding salary is that of July, 2015, which is not yet due and is pending receipt of July allocations from the Federation Account.”
The Commissioner added that the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel recently bailed out local governments in the matter of primary school teachers’ remuneration.
He advised the agents of misinformation, who are bent on distracting the new administration to desist from misleading the public, especially in very sensitive matters as workers’ salaries.
